About the Artist

At the core of Lakey's art lies a deep-seated passion for uncovering and showcasing the deeper meaning behind things, beyond just their surface appearance. Throughout his journey as an artist, he has explored various mediums, including poetry, stream-of-conscious drawings, sacred geometry, and the study of numbers, letters, and lines - the building blocks of the information age.

For years, Lakey traveled across the country, sharing his art with the public while dressed in a suit and tie, and creating beside a sign that read "Grandma says I need a job wearing a suit and tie...this is my compromise." This sign served as a protest to the norms of society and a call for introspection.

After the passing of his grandmother, Lakey's focus shifted to community building and the fleeting nature of life, both its highs and lows. He now incorporates the use of sidewalk chalk in his work, embracing the impermanence of the medium while documenting his pieces with 360 cameras to ensure they live on, even after they have been erased by the elements.

Through his art, Lakey continues to inspire and provoke thought, challenging our perceptions of the world around us and encouraging us to see beyond surface appearances. Urging us to create beauty knowing it will be washed away.
